THE ARTISTIC INFLUENCE OF GEORGE W BUSH

In many ways, I'm glad that Bush won last month. Without him, we'd have a puerile consensus. With him, a perverted dualism is maintained. Bush returned to power enables us to continue probing our deepest regions for a new artistic paradigm.

A US senator has called on UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to quit over alleged corruption in the oil-for-food programme in Iraq.

Norm Coleman alleges ex-Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was allowed to profit from the UN-backed scheme and that Mr Annan is ultimately responsible.

The Republican senator is conducting a congressional probe of the allegations.

Correspondents say dissatisfaction with Mr Annan is rife among US Republicans, and is shared by the White House.

Can this be the same US senator who failed to call for an investigation into why Donald Rumsfeld
met with President Saddam Hussein in 1983, and sold weapons to the Iraqi regime; weapons that were later used to devastating effecton Iraqi Kurds,a nd later still on US and UK forces?

Yes indeed, Norm Coleman has never questioned why Donald Rumsfeld met with President Saddam Hussein in 1983 and sold arms to him and his regime.

I wonder why that is. I wonder why Mr Bush has failed to ask the same question (don't worry, that's me being ironic and satirical and so forth).

Maybe some of you out there should call Mr Coleman and ask why. He's at:
